Bangkok United FC coach Totchtawan Sripan has set his sights on securing his side’s first win in Group B of the 2025/26 ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ when the Thai League 1 outfit face off against Myanmar’s Shan United FC on Thursday.

Both teams go into the encounter at Pathum Thani with no chance of advancing to the semi-finals but the former Thailand international playmaker is determined his side will pick up three points despite the difficulties faced throughout the group phase.

“I wouldn’t say that we are fully satisfied,” Totchtawan said of his side’s performances in the current edition of the competition.  “One of the main challenges has been managing multiple competitions at the same time, which has made squad rotation and match preparation more difficult.

“In the Shopee Cup™, there were some matches where we could not focus at 100 per cent, as we also wanted to give opportunities to players who had not featured regularly. At the same time, some of our main players have accumulated fatigue, especially after recent key matches.

“For this game, there will be some rotation, but we are still focused on this match and aiming to secure our first win in the Shopee Cup™.”

Bangkok United have lost twice and drawn with Lion City Sailors FC in their three matches in the competition so far while Shan United have lost all four of their games to date in the Shopee Cup™.

“In this competition, all the teams we have faced are strong champions from their respective countries,” Shan United coach Aung Han Win said of the challenges his team have faced in this year’s competition.

“From those matches, we have gained a lot of experience, even though the games have been very difficult. Based on those experiences, we have prepared carefully for tomorrow’s match.”

Shan United lost all five of their group phase matches in last season’s edition of the competition and Ghanaian midfielder Mark Sekyi stressed his team mates would strive to secure the best result possible.

“For me, this competition has been a very big opportunity and a valuable experience,” he said. “Most of the clubs in this group are champions in their leagues, so it is never easy to win matches.

“Every game has been very tough. For tomorrow’s match, we will try our best and give everything until the end.”
