Hosts Vietnam and defending champions Philippines are finding their form with just a month left before the kick-off of the ASEAN Women’s MSIG Serenity Cup™ 2025, as they produced some strong performances in the past week to qualify for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup.

Vietnam are hosting the MSIG Serenity Cup™ tournament from 6 to 19 August and they were in fine form during the Women’s Asian Cup qualifier as they notched up three wins against the United Arab Emirates, Guam and the Maldives, scoring 17 goals and conceding none to book their berth in the finals in Australia next March.

Winger Nguyễn Thị Bích Thùy scored twice as Vietnam defeated the Maldives 4-0 in their final Group E encounter to complete their perfect run in qualifying, with Nguyễn Thị Vạn and Phạm Hải Yến also finding the target at Việt Trì Stadium.

The Philippines were given a sterner test in Group G but Chandler McDaniel scored the only goal of the game against Hong Kong in Phnom Penh on Saturday to seal a 1-0 win and confirm their progress after earlier victories over Saudi Arabia and Cambodia had taken them into top spot.

However, Thailand fell short of securing a place at the finals as Futoshi Ikeda’s side lost 2-1 to India in their last qualifier in Chiang Mai to finish second in Group B behind their opponents. Timor-Leste took third place in the group with a 3-1 win over Mongolia.

Myanmar also missed out on a place in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup with a second-place finish in Group C behind Bangladesh. A 2-1 loss to Bangladesh had ended their hopes of qualification, although Tetsuro Uki’s team finished the campaign on a positive note with a 6-0 thrashing of Bahrain in Yangon.

Indonesia finished third in Group D behind qualifiers Chinese Taipei, who defeated Satoru Mochizuki’s side 2-1 in their final match.

The MSIG Serenity Cup™ 2025 starts on 6 August with Group A matches between Vietnam and Cambodia, and Thailand and Indonesia at Lạch Tray Stadium in Hải Phòng.

Group B kicks off the following day with the Philippines taking on Timor-Leste, and Myanmar meeting Australia at Việt Trì Stadium.

The final will be played at Lạch Tray Stadium on 19 August.
