Hải Phòng – Vietnam finished third at the ASEAN Women’s MSIG Serenity Cup™ 2025 as goals by Phạm Hải Yến, Huỳnh Như and Nguyễn Thị Bích Thùy secured a 3-1 win over Thailand at Lạch Tray Stadium on Tuesday.

Hải Yến opened the scoring just before half-time and Mai Đức Chung’s side pulled away after the interval with Huỳnh Như and Bích Thùy finding the net in a three-minute spell, before Wirunya Kwenkasikum pulled back a late consolation for the Thais.

Thailand almost got off to a dream start as Pinyaphat Klinklai’s left-footed effort from outside the box nearly snuck past goalkeeper Trần Thị Kim Thanh after only 75 seconds.

Following that early scare, Vietnam gradually settled into the game although they had no clear-cut chances until the 40th minute when Bích Thùy laid the ball off on the edge of the Thai box for Thái Thị Thảo who sent her effort just over the crossbar.

The hosts would take the lead a minute before half-time through Hải Yến’s fourth goal of the tournament. A superb cross-field ball by Bích Thùy picked out the Vietnamese forward’s run on the right flank and Hải Yến allowed the ball to take a bounce before rifling a first-time shot across goalkeeper Pawarisa Homyamyen into the far corner.

Thailand made a strong start to the second half as they went in search of an equaliser and Kim Thanh was called into action immediately after the interval to keep out opportunities by Madison Casteen and Janista Jinantuya.

However, Vietnam would put the result beyond doubt with a pair of quick strikes midway through the half.

In the 65th minute, Nguyễn Thị Vạn’s through ball sent Huỳnh Như clear on goal and although the Vietnam captain’s initial attempt was stopped by Pawarisa, she regathered the ball and tucked it into the empty net.

Shortly afterwards, Thị Vạn sent a searching long ball to the right of the Thai box for Bích Thùy who beat Pawarisa at the near post with a crisp half-volley.

Wirunya narrowed the deficit for Thailand with an 87th minute strike but it was mere consolation for the Thais as Vietnam hung on to comfortably seal third place.
