DH Cebu FC coach Glenn Ramos was a frustrated figure after his Philippines Football League side were held to a 1-1 draw by Selangor FC in Group A of the ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ on Wednesday.

Selangor’s Willian Lira struck in the 54th minute at Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila to cancel out Rico Andes’ 47th minute header to deny Cebu their first win of the 2025/26 Shopee Cup™ campaign.

“If we had converted our chances, we could have scored two goals in the first half,” said Ramos. “In the second half, we tried to play more between the lines and on the counter-attack.

“Our transition still needs to improve, but the expectation was to win the game. I believed we had to win this one.”

The draw allowed Cebu to pick up their first point of the group phase but they remain rooted to the bottom of the six-team group as the quest for a place in the knockout rounds continues.

Selangor, meanwhile, relinquished top spot in the standings to Tampines Rovers FC as a result of the draw and interim coach Christophe Gamel’s side are now in second, one point adrift of the leaders with two matches remaining.

“We created chances, especially in the final pass, but once again we were just missing that last bit of precision,” said the Frenchman. “We had one or two very good opportunities that we could not convert.”

Selangor forward Omid Musawi was named the Shopee Star of the Match and the Afghanistan international felt his side deserved more from the fixture.

“I don’t think the match reflected what we deserved,” he said. “They scored first, but our mentality stayed strong.

“We continue fighting even when we are behind. We don’t panic and we stay focused on our game.

“From this result, the only positive thing is that at least we took a point. But honestly, it feels more like a loss because I think we deserved more.”
