ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ participants Nam Định FC announced on Wednesday the reappointment of Vũ Hồng Việt as the club’s head coach following the departure of Mauro Jerónimo.

The Vietnamese tactician returns to the role having previously guiding Nam Định to the 2023/24 V.League 1 title and the 2024 National Super Cup.

He also steered the club to a successful V.League 1 title defence in 2024/25 despite significant injury setbacks, while steering the team into the knockout stage of the AFC Champions League Two and qualification for the Shopee Cup™.

Vũ Hồng Việt stepped aside in October 2025 following the team’s defeat away to Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League Two, but returns after four months as Nam Định look to regain momentum in the domestic campaign.

His appointment follows the departure of Jerónimo, who resigned after the club’s 1-0 defeat to Thể Công Viettel in a postponed round of the 2025/26 V.League 1 season.

During his tenure, Jerónimo oversaw one win, two draws and one defeat in the league, while guiding Nam Định to four wins and one draw in the Shopee Cup™.

The club also competed in the AFC Champions League Two group stage under his leadership.

Vũ Hồng Việt is expected to resume training immediately as Nam Định prepare for the second half of the V.League 1 2025/26 season.
