Singapore Premier League champions and 2026/27 ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ participants Lion City Sailors FC announced the departure of head coach Jesús Casas with immediate effect on Tuesday.
The Spaniard leaves the club after little more than six months in charge, during which time he led the Sailors to the 2026/27 Singapore Premier League and Singapore Cup titles. Casas has been replaced on an interim basis by assistant coach Varo Moreno.
Lion City Sailors will return to the Shopee Cup™ for a third consecutive season when the group phase of the competition kicks off on October 7 and 8.
The Singaporeans will play in Group B alongside Công An Hà Nội of Vietnam, Thailand’s Port FC, Johor Darul Ta’zim from Malaysia, Indonesia’s Persib Bandung, PKR Svay Rieng FC of Cambodia and either Ezra FC from Laos or Myanmar’s Shan United FC.
