Bangkok United FC put one foot in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League Two on Thursday as Totchtawan Sripan’s side handed Australia’s Macarthur FC a 2-0 defeat in the first leg of their last 16 clash at Pathum Thani Stadium.

Ilias Alhaft gave the ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ participants the lead in the 37th minute and Artur Moura doubled his side’s advantage with 18 minutes remaining. The teams face off in the second leg in Sydney next Thursday.

Meanwhile, Công An Hà Nội FC will take a 4-0 lead into the second leg of their meeting with fellow Shopee Cup™ participants Tampines Rovers FC after securing a comprehensive advantage in Hanoi on Wednesday.

Nguyễn Quang Hải scored twice in the first half, netting the opener for Mano Pölking’s side in the 24th minute before doubling the lead three minutes later. Rodrigo Alves hit in the 37th minute and Nguyễn Đình Bắc completed the rout in second half stoppage time.

The teams will meet again in Singapore next Wednesday.
