Bangkok, 4 July 2025: Defending champions Buriram United FC of Thailand face a rematch of last year’s dramatic ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ final against Công An Hà Nội FC of FC in the group stage of the 2025/26 tournament after the Official Draw was conducted in Bangkok on Friday.

With the success of the inaugural tournament in 2024/25, the second edition of the Shopee Cup™ will once again feature 14 national league champions and Cup winners from nine ASEAN countries, including Malaysian treble winners Johor Darul Ta’zim FC, back-to-back Vietnamese league champions Nam Định FC and Singapore double winners Lion City Sailors, who will vie for the honour of being crowned ASEAN Club Champions.

The tournament will commence with qualifying round play-off matches on 8 and 15 August involving clubs from Brunei Darussalam, Laos, Myanmar and the Philippines. The winners will advance to join 10 top ASEAN clubs from Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam in the group stage, which kicks off on 20 August.

Regrettably, Indonesia were unable to submit the required Shopee Cup Season 2025/26 registration form to the AFF by the deadline. Therefore, Indonesian clubs could not be included in today’s Official Draw, and they will not be competing in the tournament.

The Shopee Cup™ qualifying round play-off fixtures and the placement of teams for the group stage were determined at the Official Draw as follows:

Shopee Cup 2025/26 - Qualifying Round Play-Off Fixtures

Shopee Cup 2025/26 Group Stage

In Group A, Buriram United will renew their Shopee Cup™ rivalries with last season’s runners-up Công An Hà Nội FC and the team they defeated in the semi-finals, Thai league rivals BG Pathum United. Rounding out the group are two of the region’s historically successful sides Selangor FC of Malaysia and Tampines Rovers FC of Singapore, plus the winners of the play-off between Kasuka FC of Brunei and DH Cebu FC of the Philippines.

Group B is stacked with four ASEAN national league champions – Johor Darul Ta’zim of Malaysia, Nam Định FC of Vietnam, Lion City Sailors FC of Singapore and PKR Svay Rieng FC, as well as Thai League 1 runners-up Bangkok United FC and the winner of the play-off between Ezra FC and Shan United FC of
Myanmar.

The top teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals, which will take place over two legs on a home-and-away basis. The final will also be played over two legs on 20 and 27 May next year.

Major General Khiev Sameth, ASEAN Football Federation President, said: “The inaugural ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ was an outstanding success, warmly received by fans, clubs, and the wider ASEAN football community. Building on this strong foundation, and with Shopee’s continued commitment as title partner alongside the support of our other Official Partners, we are proud to announce the launch of the tournament’s second season.

“For many ASEAN clubs, the ultimate dream is to be crowned champions of Asia and eventually, to compete on the global stage. The Shopee Cup brings us a step closer to that aspiration. It offers a vital platform where our clubs can grow, compete and thrive within the region as they prepare to pursue success internationally.

“As we look forward to the second season, we anticipate heightened competition, stronger rivalries and even greater stakes. Most importantly, the Shopee Cup will continue to serve as a critical platform for ASEAN’s top clubs. On behalf of the AFF and our Council Members, we reaffirm our long-term commitment and vision to supporting ASEAN clubs in their journey towards becoming champions of the AFC Champions League and participating in the FIFA Club World Cup.”

Pan Huiyan, Regional Marketing Head, Shopee said: “We are proud to kick off season two of the Shopee Cup™ in Bangkok. Last year’s launch exceeded expectations - I still remember the electrifying season one finals, with fans united in pride and passion. That’s the energy we’re bringing back this year.

“With fresh club line-ups and rising anticipation, the Shopee Cup™ is fast becoming a key event in ASEAN football. At Shopee, we believe in football’s power to connect communities, just like our platform does. We’ll also keep fans engaged with in-app games like Halftime Shopee Shake and exclusive content all season long.”

Buriram United were crowned the first Shopee Cup™ Champions last May after they won a thrilling final against Công An Hà Nôi FC in a penalty shootout following a 5-5 aggregate draw over two matches, which were played in front of sell-out crowds in Hanoi and Buriram.
