ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ participants Bangkok United FC exited the AFC Champions League Two after a 3-0 defeat to Japan’s Gamba Osaka in the second leg of their semi-final at Rajamangala National Stadium on Wednesday.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Gamba levelled the tie on aggregate in the 19th minute when Ryoya Yamashita turned home after Bangkok United had failed to clear their lines.

The visitors moved ahead seven minutes before half-time as Issam Jebali followed up to score after his penalty had been saved by Patiwat Khammai.

Ryotaro Meshino added a third in the 82nd minute to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory for Gamba.

Bangkok’s run to the semi-finals marked the furthest progress by a Southeast Asian club in this season’s competition.
