ASEAN ROUND-UP: JOHOR DARUL TA’ZIM FC DOMINANCE SETS THE TONE

ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ representatives Johor Darul Ta’zim FC continued their dominant domestic form on Sunday with a commanding 5–0 home victory over Immigration FC in the Malaysia Super League.

João Figueiredo opened the scoring in the 21st minute before Vinícius Milani Bueno doubled the advantage early in the second half.

Bérgson da Silva struck in the 61st minute to make it three, with Marcos Guilherme adding a fourth soon after, before Bérgson completed the scoring in stoppage time as JDT maintained their position at the top of the standings.

Meanwhile, Selangor FC were held to a 1–1 draw away by Terengganu FC.

Ehsan Pandzhshanbe gave the hosts the lead shortly before the break but Faisal Halim, winner of the Shopee Star of the Match for Selangor on Wednesday, responded in the 57th minute to ensure the points were shared, with the Red Giants sitting among the leading pack.

In Thai League 1, Bangkok United FC produced one of the standout results of the weekend with a composed 2–0 away victory over defending champions Buriram United FC.

The visitors struck early through Rivaldinho in the eighth minute and Arthur wrapped up the points late on with a calm finish in the 88th minute as Bangkok United climbed into the top three after 19 matches to tightened the title race.

Elsewhere in Thailand, BG Pathum United FC were held to a 2–2 home draw by Chiangrai United FC.

Ikhsan Fandi opened the scoring from the penalty spot deep into first-half stoppage time only for Dudu Silva to equalise shortly after the restart in the 50th minute.

Elias Dolah restored BG Pathum’s lead in the 75th minute but Carlos Ívy’s late penalty in the 85th minute ensured Chiangrai claimed a share of the spoils as BG Pathum remained in the top half of the table.

Singapore Premier League action saw Lion City Sailors FC maintain their strong domestic form with a convincing 5–1 home victory over Balestier Khalsa FC.

Anderson Lopes opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before an own goal by Lionel Tan doubled the advantage.

Diogo Costa and Shawal Anuar struck prior to the break to put the Sailors firmly in control, and although Balestier pulled one back after the restart, Bailey Wright’s header in the 65th minute sealed another emphatic win to ensure the Sailors remain at the summit.

Tampines Rovers FC also continued their strong domestic form with a 2–1 home victory over Tanjong Pagar United FC.

Hide Higashikawa opened the scoring inside five minutes and Shah Shahiran doubled the lead 30 minutes later Emilio Estévez pulled one back for the visitors after the interval, but Tampines held firm to remain in the upper reaches of the table.

In Vietnam’s V.League 1, Công An Hà Nội FC edged a thrilling 3–2 home victory over Ninh Bình FC.

Geovane Magno struck early for the visitors in the second minute, but Alan Grafite responded with goals in the 32nd minute and from the penalty spot two minutes into first-half stoppage time.

Trần Thành Trung levelled early in the second half and Grafite completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute to secure all three points, keeping Công An Hà Nội in close contention.

Nam Định FC were held to a 2–2 draw away by Thanh Hóa FC.

Lâm Ti Phông opened the scoring early before Brenner doubled Nam Định’s advantage, but Thanh Hóa responded after the break as Thanh Hóa Dương and Trần Hữu Dương struck in quick succession to complete the comeback, with Nam Định remaining in the upper half of the standings.

In the Cambodian Premier League, Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC delivered an entertaining attacking display as they secured a 6–3 home victory over Army FC.

Svay Rieng raced into a three-goal lead through Sok Knya, Faris Hammouti and Ouk Vinun before Patrick da Silva added a fourth just before halftime.

Army FC responded after the interval, but late goals from Kwame Peprah and Seing Chanthea ensured the league leaders wrapped up a nine-goal thriller.
