Reigning ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ champions Buriram United FC will start the 2026/27 campaign under new leadership after the Thai League 1 side announced the departure of head coach Mark Jackson.
Jackson, who guided Buriram United to the ASEAN title in May with victory over Malaysia’s Selangor FC, left the club on Saturday, one day before the start of the new Thai League 1 season.
The Englishman had led Australia’s Central Coast Mariners to the AFC Cup title in 2024 and was appointed in October to replace Osmar Loss. He guided the club to a successful defence of their Shopee Cup™ crown as well as the Thai League 1 and Thai FA Cup.
Emerson Pereira and Zoran Mijanović will lead the team on an interim basis with Buriram United due to kick off their defence of their domestic league title against Sukhothai FC on Sunday.
Buriram United will begin their quest for a third consecutive Shopee Cup™ title on October 7 when they host Indonesia’s Borneo FC Samarinda in their Group A opener.
