Singapore, 21 October 2024:
The ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024 Trophy Tour will make its latest stop in Hanoi on Saturday as the famous golden trophy continues its trek around the capitals of Southeast Asia ahead of this year’s highly anticipated regional championship.
Vietnam legends Duong Hong Son and Thach Bao Khanh will be the special guests on the latest Trophy Tour stop, which will be held at the Ground Floor of the Garden Court, AEON Mall Ha Dong on Saturday.
Entry for the event, which will run from 11am to 5pm and feature a hip-hop performance, is free and open to the public.
Passes for exclusive Meet & Greet sessions are available to be won via the ASEAN United FC official website and social media platforms while fans attending the Trophy Tour will also have the opportunity to win exclusive ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024 merchandise at games booths
Earlier in the day, Duong Hong Son, Thach Bao Khanh and Pham Thanh Luong will participate in a football clinic for aspiring youth footballers as part of a CSR initiative being hosted by Mitsubishi Electric in conjunction with the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024 Trophy Tour.
That event will take place at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre and will feature lessons and mini games using the “Okada” method.
Named after the famed Takeshi Okada, the course will be led by coaches of FC Imabari, a Japanese professional club in the Meiji Yasuda J3 League chaired by the coach who qualified Japan for their first-ever FIFA World Cup in 1998 and to the knock-out stages of the FIFA World Cup in 2010.
The Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ is the region’s leading football event and the competition returns for its 15th edition in December with Vietnam looking to reclaim the title the nation has won twice, in 2008 and 2018.
In the 28 years since its creation, the event has grown from a two week-long centralised tournament into a competition that is currently played across the region over a six-week period in front of sold-out stadiums in Hanoi, Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta and beyond.
The Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024 Trophy Tour has previously stopped in Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur and will also visit Jakarta on November 2 before concluding in Manila on November 9.
The group phase of the 2024 edition of the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ kicks off on December 8 with Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia and playoff winners Timor-Leste competing in Group A.
Group B, meanwhile, will feature Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar and Laos, with the top two finishers in each group advancing to the next round.
The semi-finals will be played on a home-and-away basis on December 26-27 and 29-30 with the final on January 2 and 5.
