ASEAN ROUND-UP: BURIRAM UNITED FC REMAIN PERFECT IN THAI LEAGUE 1

ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ title holders Buriram United FC continued their perfect start to their Thai League 1 campaign on Saturday as Osmar Loss’ side handed Ayutthaya FC a 4-1 defeat to pick up a sixth win in a row.

A Robert Žulj penalty in the 28th minute gave Buriram United the lead while Fejsal Mulić scored twice late in the first half to consolidate the visitors’ advantage. Yashir Pinto pulled one back for the hosts before Kenny Douggal hit his side’s fourth in the 86th minute.

The win keeps Buriram United on top of the Thai League 1 standings with 18 points and they sit five points clear of second-placed Ratchaburi FC, who lost 1-0 to Bangkok United FC on Sunday.

Bangkok United bounced back from their opening Shopee Cup™ loss to Johor Darul Ta’zim on Thursday to take all three points with Richairo Živković scoring the game’s only goal in the 19th minute.

BG Pathum United FC are in fifth, a further three points adrift of Buriram United, having seen Surachart Sareepim score both goals in their 2-0 win over Port FC.

In Vietnam, Léo Artur and Alan Grafite were on target as Công An Hà Nội FC defeated fellow Shopee Cup™ participants Nam Định FC 2-0 in V.League 1 action on Sunday.

Léo Artur put last season’s Shopee Cup™ runners-up in front on the 37th minute and Alan Grafite doubled the advantage in the 68th minute as Mano Pölking’s side kept pace with Ninh Bình FC at the top of the standings.

Shan United FC picked up their third win of the Myanmar National League campaign with a 3-1 victory over Ayeyawady FC through second half goals from Ko Sa Aung Pyae, Soe Thet Hein and Mauricio to sit fourth in the standings, five points behind leaders Yangon FC.

PKR Svay Rieng, meanwhile, lost their first Cambodia Premier League game of the season with a 3-2 loss against Phnom Penh Crown FC although Matt McConkey’s side continue to top the table.

DH Cebu FC suffered a 3-0 loss to Kaya FC Iloilo on Sunday to drop down to eighth position in the Philippines Football League.
