About Shopee Cup™

The ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ returns for a second edition in August bringing even greater action and excitement to the regional stage as the best clubs from Southeast Asia face off for the right to be crowned the 2025/26 ASEAN Club Champions.

Following their thrilling victory over Công An Hà Nội FC of Vietnam in the 2024/25 Shopee Cup™ final, Buriram United of Thailand are back to defend their title in the second edition of the competition which features 14 top clubs from nine ASEAN countries.

The season kicks off with the qualifying round play-offs in August and concludes with the final in May 2026.

 

Shopee Cup™ 2025/26 Tournament Format

 

The tournament format for this season’s Shopee Cup™ includes qualifying round play-offs, a group stage and a knock-out stage consisting of semi-finals and the final.

 

Shopee Cup™ Season 2025/26 Participating Clubs

 

The Shopee Cup™ features the national league champions and designated Cup winners (or runners-up in certain instances) of Malaysia, Singapore Thailand and Vietnam (two teams each), and Cambodia (one team). The national league champions of Brunei, Laos, Myanmar and the Philippines will compete in Qualifying Round Play-Offs for two places in the Shopee Cup™ Group Stage. The Shopee Cup™ defending champions automatically qualify.

 

Qualifying Round Play-Offs

 

Ezra FC (Laos)
Formed in 2003, Ezra FC enjoyed their most successful season in 2024/25 when they captured their first-ever Lao League 1 title after going unbeaten throughout their campaign and finishing four points ahead of back-to-back champions Young Elephants FC. They added to their success by also lifting the Prime Minister’s Cup with a 2-1 victory over Young Elephants in the final.

DH Cebu FC (Philippines)
DH Cebu FC have enjoyed a rapid rise in Philippines football since the club was formed in 2021. They were runners-up in their first two seasons in the Philippines Football League in 2022/23 and 2024, and despite finishing fourth in the league standings in 2024/25, they emerged as winners of the PFL Finals Series with a 1-0 win over Manila Digger FC in the Golden Ticket Final.

Kasuka FC (Brunei Darussalam)
After winning the Brunei Super League with a perfect record in 2023, Kasuka FC retained their title in dramatic fashion last season after a 3-2 win over DPMM in their final game saw them leapfrog their opponents into top spot. They will be looking to reach the Shopee Cup™ group stage for the first time after going down 4-2 on aggregate to Shan United FC in the qualifying round last year.

Shan United FC (Myanmar)
Winners of the Myanmar National League in six of the past seven seasons, Shan United FC return to the Shopee Cup™ after competing in last season’s inaugural tournament. They came through a qualifying round play-off against Kasuka FC of Brunei Darussalam last season, winning 4-2 on aggregate, but struggled in the group stage as they failed to pick up a point in five games and finished last in their group.

Buriram United (Thailand)
Defending champions Buriram United return to the Shopee Cup™ after a highly successful 2024/25 season when they became ASEAN Club Champions after a penalty shoot-out victory over Công An Hà Nội FC in a memorable final. They also retained the Thai League 1 title, swept domestic honours with wins in the Thai FA Cup and Thai League Cup, and reached the AFC Champions League Elite quarter-finals.

Bangkok United FC (Thailand)
Runners-up in Thai League 1 in 2022/23 and 2023/24, Bangkok United FC came agonisingly close to the title last season when they finished one point behind champions Buriram United. Although they came up short of lifting their first league championship since 2006, Bangkok United earned a spot in the Shopee Cup™ as runners-up in the Thai League.

BG Pathum United (Thailand)
With a strong side that included Thai national stars Chanathip Songkrasin and Teerasil Dangda, BG Pathum United FC topped their group in last season’s Shopee Cup™ but went out in the semi-finals after a 3-1 aggregate loss to Buriram United. They were third in Thai League 1 in 2024/25, but Buriram’s success in the Thai FA Cup and Thai League Cup earned them another opportunity in the Shopee Cup™.

Công An Hà Nội FC (Vietnam)
Công An Hà Nội FC made a strong Shopee Cup™ debut last season as they won six of seven games during their run to the final, where they were beaten on penalties by Buriram United FC after a 5-5 aggregate draw. They finished third in V.League 1 last season but earned a second chance at the Shopee Cup™ after a 5-0 victory over Sông Lam Nghệ An FC in the Vietnam National Cup final.

Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (Malaysia)
Johor Darul Ta’zim FC have dominated Malaysian football for more than a decade, winning 11 consecutive Malaysia Super League titles and clinching the domestic treble in each of the past three seasons with victories in the Malaysia FA Cup and Malaysia Cup. The club also lifted the AFC Cup in 2015 and reached the last 16 of the AFC Champions League Elite last season.

Lion City Sailors FC (Singapore)
After winning the Singapore Premier League and Singapore Cup in 2024/25, Lion City Sailors FC are seeking an improved performance in the Shopee Cup™ after going out at the group stage last season. Lion City Sailors enjoyed a run to the final of the AFC Champions League Two last season, eliminating Japan’s Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Australia’s Sydney FC along the way.

Nam Định FC (Vietnam)
Formed in 1965, Nam Định FC won their first national league championship in 1985 but they have enjoyed their most successful period in recent years, winning back-to-back V.League 1 titles in 2023/24 and 2024/25. While they are making their Shopee Cup™ debut this season, they played in the AFC Champions League Two last season, when they reached the last 16.

PKR Svay Rieng FC (Cambodia)
PKR Svay Rieng FC will be looking to build on a strong performance in last season’s Shopee Cup™ when they beat Young Elephants FC of Laos in the qualifying round and finished third in their group after wins against Terengganu FC of Malaysia and Shan United FC of Myanmar They retained the Cambodian Premier League title last season, one point ahead of runners-up Phnom Penh Crown.

Selangor FC (Malaysia)
Originally formed as the Football Association of Selangor’s representative side, Selangor FC boast a proud history with a record 33 Malaysia Cup victories and six league titles. The Red Giants are making their Shopee Cup™ debut after finishing second in last season’s Super League, but they have regularly played on the international stage, including the 2024/25 AFC Champions League Two.

Tampines Rovers FC (Singapore)
Tampines Rovers FC went close to glory in 2024/25 as they finished runners-up in the Singapore Premier League and Singapore Cup. Winners of five Singapore league titles, the most recent of which came in 2013, and four Singapore Cups, Tampines Rovers will be competing in the Shopee Cup™ for the first time.
