Last season’s runners-up Công An Hà Nội FC concluded their 2025/26 ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ campaign in style with an emphatic 6-1 win over Singapore’s Tampines Rovers FC on Wednesday night.
Mano Pölking’s hosts battled back from going behind to an early effort by Trent Buhagiar to secure an emphatic victory through goals from Hugo Gomes, Lê Văn Đô, Phan Văn Đức and Vitão before a late double from Shopee Star of the Match, Alan Grafite.
The result sees Công An Hà Nội finish in fourth in the standings after the V.League 1 outfit snuffed out any lingering hopes Tampines Rovers harboured of securing a place in the next phase of the competition.
Polking had made eight changes to his side’s starting line-up from their 2-0 loss to Selangor FC last week but fell behind in the 12th minute when Buhagiar gave the visitors the lead, and with it some temporary hope of their own progression.
The changes, however, had the desired effect as Công An Hà Nội took only two minutes to draw level, towering Brazilian defender Hugo Gomes heading home from a corner in the 14th minute.
Having come close on a number of occasions, the home side took the lead midway through the first half when Văn Đức found Văn Đô in the box, with the 24-year-old’s first time finish flying past Syazwan Buhari’s outstretched hand.
Văn Đức went from provider to scorer less than five minutes later, tapping home from close range after Phạm Minh Phúc’s cross across the box found him unmarked in front of goal as the home side took control of the game.
But Công An Hà Nội did not have it all their own way in the second half.
Buhagiar and Hide Higashikawa proved a constant menace for Tampines Rovers, the Japanese striker coming closest to hauling his side back into the game on 53 minutes when his shot on the turn forcing a fine save from Vũ Thành Vinh.
Any chance of a comeback was ended 16 minutes from time, however, when Vitão made it 4-1, before Alan put the icing on the cake with a quick-fire brace with goals in the 83rd and 90th minutes to round out a comprehensive victory.
