The fourth matchday of the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024 emerged as a treat for the fans as it produced some stunning goals across the games played in the regional showpiece on Tuesday and Wednesday.
As many as 16 goals were scored across the four matches with the blockbuster clash between holders Thailand and Singapore producing six goals in Group A while Myanmar and Laos also exchanged five goals between them in a thriller in Group B.

Shawal Anuar (vs Thailand)
A goal for the ages was what Shawal Anuar produced when he sent the supporters at National Stadium in Kallang into raptures as he opened the scoring for Singapore against reigning champions Thailand just 10 minutes after kick-off in their penultimate group stage fixture.
Singapore goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud launched a quick counter-attack in the 10th minute with a long kick towards Shawal, who cushioned the ball into his stride with a deft first touch some 35 yards away from goal before an even better strike from 25 yards beat Patiwat Khammai in the Thai goal.
Faris Ramli (vs Thailand)
As if one screamer from Shawal Anuar was not enough on Tuesday, Singapore produced another in the same match as Fari Ramli scored his second goal of the tournament with another strike from outside the box.
The 32-year-old received the ball wide on the left wing before cutting in towards the centre. For a moment, it felt as if Faris had taken a poor touch, but what followed was a stunning right-foot strike which curled into the top corner and left Patiwat Khammai hapless despite a full-stretched dive.
Patrik Gustavsson (vs Singapore)
Though Singapore took a two-goal lead against Thailand in Kallang, it was Patrik Gustavsson who initiated the comeback for the reigning champions in first-half stoppage time with a brilliant team goal on their way to a 4-2 win that booked their place in the semi-finals.
Suphanat Mueanta chased a cross into the box with the half-time whistle looming and even though it dragged him wide of the goal, the 22-year-old’s backheel towards Anan Yodsangwal allowed the latter to square the ball for Gustavsson to fire it into the goal and finish off a brilliant move.
Jarvey Gayoso (vs Vietnam)
Jarvey Gayoso has been part of the Philippines national team since 2017 but his strike against Vietnam was only the 27-year-old Phnom Penh Crown FC winger’s third goal at the international stage and the first in the ASEAN Championship.
A long ball aimed at Javier Mariona bounced off the Vietnamese defender into the box and substitute Gayoso let the ball across him before planting a left-foot strike into the back of the net with Vietnam goalkeeper Filip Nguyen rooted in his spot in the 68th minute.
