Vietnam carried a 2-1 first-leg advantage into the return match in Hanoi, but Thailand levelled the aggregate score through Teerasil Dangda. In stoppage time, Le Cong Vinh glanced home a free-kick to secure a 1-1 draw, a 3-2 aggregate victory and Vietnam’s first championship.

After suffering a 5-1 defeat to Indonesia in the group stage, Malaysia turned the tables with a dominant 3-0 first-leg victory in the final. Safee Sali scored three times across the two legs as K. Rajagobal’s young side won 4-2 on aggregate and lifted the trophy for the first time.
