The ASEAN Hyundai Cup™ 2026 has produced memorable moments and outstanding individual performances as the region’s leading players battled for regional supremacy.
Five players have been shortlisted after delivering exceptional contributions that earned them Yanmar Most Energetic Player recognition during the tournament. From decisive goals and dynamic attacking play to commanding midfield influence and vital saves on the biggest stage, each nominee left a significant mark on their team’s campaign.

Kakana Khamyok (Thailand) v Laos, July 25
Kakana played a starring role as Thailand opened their Group B campaign with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Laos in Vientiane.
The midfielder scored twice, sliding home Thailand’s second goal in the 27th minute before setting up captain Sarach Yooyen with a cutback early in the second half. Kakana then completed his double in the 59th minute, converting Teerasak Poeiphimai’s delivery as the War Elephants rounded off a dominant opening-night display.
His movement, creativity and attacking intent were central to Thailand’s performance as they began a perfect group stage campaign in impressive fashion.
Nguyễn Hai Long (Vietnam) v Indonesia, August 3
Nguyễn Hai Long produced an energetic display down the left as Vietnam claimed a commanding 3-0 victory over Indonesia in Bogor to strengthen their push for a semi-final place.
The winger was involved in the opening goal after bursting down the flank and cutting the ball back in a move eventually finished by Nguyễn Văn Vĩ before making his own mark eight minutes later. Released into space from inside his own half, Hai Long drove forward on a devastating counterattack before finishing past Nadeo Argawinata to double Vietnam’s advantage in the 14th minute.
His pace and direct running caused Indonesia problems throughout as the defending champions secured their first-ever victory over their rivals on Indonesian soil.
Wan Kuzain (Malaysia) v Philippines, August 8
Wan Kuzain helped drive Malaysia into the semi-finals with an influential midfield display in their crucial 1-0 victory over the Philippines in Kuala Lumpur.
With Malaysia needing a positive result to secure their place in the last four, Wan Kuzain helped the hosts dictate play from midfield before creating the decisive moment in the 16th minute. After combining with Paulo Josué on the right, he delivered a perfectly weighted cross for Pavithran Gunalan to head home the only goal of the game.
Composed in possession and instrumental in controlling the contest, Wan Kuzain played a key role as the Harimau Malaya secured second place in Group B and a semi-final meeting with Vietnam.
Teerasak Poeiphimai (Thailand) v Singapore, August 15
Teerasak delivered his most decisive performance of the tournament as Thailand defeated Singapore 3-1 in the first leg of their semi-final at Jalan Besar Stadium.
The forward struck twice inside the opening 26 minutes, calmly finding the bottom corner for the opener before using his pace and persistence to repeatedly trouble the Singapore defence. Teerasak then started and finished the move for his second, releasing Waris Choolthong down the right before racing into the box to head home the resulting cross.
His relentless attacking threat helped Thailand establish a commanding first-leg advantage and ultimately proved crucial as the War Elephants progressed to the final.
Maung Maung Lwin (Myanmar) v Philippines, July 28
Maung Maung Lwin played an influential role as Myanmar bounced back from their opening Group B defeat with a commanding 4-1 victory over the Philippines. The experienced winger produced one of the game’s key moments in the 28th minute, collecting possession from Lwin Moe Aung before threading an incisive pass through the Philippines defence for Than Paing to score Myanmar’s second.
A constant attacking outlet for Jørn Andersen’s side, Maung Maung Lwin’s energy, movement and creativity helped Myanmar take control of the contest and secure three points that revived their hopes of reaching the ASEAN Hyundai Cup™ 2026 Semi-Finals.
