Malaysia and Johor Darul Ta’zim winger Arif Aiman has been nominated for the Asian Football Confederation’s Player of the Year Award, which will be presented in Riyadh next month.

The 23-year-old becomes the first player from his country to be included on the shortlist for the prestigious continental award and will vie for the trophy with current AFC Player of the Year Akram Afif and Saudi Arabia’s Salem Al Dawsari.

The award will be presented at a ceremony in the Saudi Arabian capital on October 16.

Qatari playmaker Afif, who plays his club football for Al Sadd, is the current holder of the title having also previous claimed the award in 2019. Al Hilal winger Al Dawsari, meanwhile, has also won the award before, scooping the trophy in 2022.

The ASEAN Football Federation, meanwhile, has been nominated alongside the East Asian Football Federation and the South Asian Football Federation for the AFC Regional Association of the Year Award.
